Amethyst is the purple variety of quartz, and its chemical formula is SiO2. Violet stones generally have a natural affinity to the crown chakra, located just above the top of the head. Furthermore,  Amethyst is derived from the old Greek word methy, meaning wine. Violet stones bring a state of balance wherever it is required.

Amethyst forms geodes of densely packed short crystals pointing inward toward the center of the hollow. Its crystalline structure is hexagonal, which means it is a seeker. Use seekers when beginning new opportunities and achieving new goals. Color variations include from very dark, almost black, to violet.

Gem lovers and aficionados find amethyst in the United States, Britain, Canada, Brazil, Mexico, Russia, Sri Lanka, Uruguay, East Africa, Siberia, and India. Amethyst is a transformer or change agent stone. It assists with situations, prospects, relationships, and outlooks. This stone is calming and stabilizing to all areas, particularly the mind. It aids in reducing restlessness and irritation and helps to promote a sense of well-being and balance because it is a natural tranquilizer. Its serenity enhances higher consciousness and meditation and has intense healing and cleansing powers.

A little-known tidbit that you may not know, people wore amethyst to prevent drunkenness, and this gem has a sobering effect on overindulgence and physical passions, supporting sobriety.

This stone is especially beneficial for decision-making because it brings in spiritual insights and common sense, which everyone would find helpful when faced with a challenging decision.   Amethyst boosts the production of hormones and tunes the endocrine system and metabolism. At a subtle level, amethyst holistically heals because it works with the physical, mental, and emotional bodies and ties them to the spiritual. It cleanses the aura, or Human Energy Field, and changes negative energy.

In conclusion, Amethyst is suitable to wear and for the home. Ideally, place Clusters and geodes in rooms, such as the bedroom or office, to aid in restful sleeping and suitable work environments. Crystal Practitioners and Energy Workers associate Archangel Michael with amethyst.
