Reiki for the Heart and Soul: The Reiki Principles as Spiritual Pathwork

Reiki for the Heart and Soul: The Reiki Principles as Spiritual Pathwork

For the past week, I have been getting ready to teach a Gendai™ Reiki Shinpiden level class, which will be held during one day this weekend.  Gendai™ Reiki, for those of you who may not know, is a style of Reiki developed by Sensei Hiroshi Doi.  He combines techniques that were part of the original Usui Gakkai (Usui Reiki Ryoho) with Western Style Reiki techniques (Usui Shiki Ryoho).  This Japanese word, Gendai, translates into the English word Modern.

As part of my class, I require my students to read “Reiki for The Heart and Soul:  The Reiki Principles as Spiritual Pathwork”, by Amy Z. Rowland.  I prepared questions for them to ask themselves during the Shinpiden Level Class.  The purpose of the Shinpiden Level class is to further deepen our practice and use of the Reiki Method.  To look inside of ourselves even deeper and uncover what is blocking us.  We will be sharing our responses with each other, and looking deeply into ourselves and asking questions like:

  • What is my reason for taking Reiki ho?
  • Has practicing Reiki ho enhanced my spiritual growth?
  • Have I incorporated the 5 Principles into my daily life, and what do they mean to me?

It’s been interesting for me to read the book again, for the third time, because I pick up something new each time I read it. Reading this book, which is so beautifully written, helps me appreciate even more the gentleness of how Reiki energy works in each one of us as we travel down our own unique path.  I am grateful for all of the wonderful people I have had the pleasure and opportunity of meeting through my Reiki practice.

The Reiki Principles (Precepts)

Just for Today

  • Release Anger
  • Release Worry
  • Show Appreciation
  • Work Hard
  • Be Kind

Simple ideas that each one of us can use as a reminder to let go of those things that no longer serve our best interest.  A reminder to stay in the present moment.  By consciously choosing to be grateful on a daily basis, we shift our energies from a place of negativity, to a place of positivity.  We choose to be at peace with ourselves, our situation, and with others.  We empower ourselves to transform and become our authentic selves.
