Crystals:Malachite

Malachite Tumbled Stone

Malachite is a copper carbonate mineral, with the formula Cu2CO3(OH)2. Malachite was used as a mineral pigment in green paints from antiquity until about 180.  Malachite is green and has concentric light and dark bands and rosettes, and it is found tumbled or polished.   Malachite is found in Romania, Mexico, New South Wales, Zambia, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Russia, the United States (Arizona)  and the Middle East.  Malachite is an extremely powerful stone but one that needs special handling.  The copper content of this stone makes it toxic and should be used only in its polished form.  Avoid breathing its dust.  This stone amplifies both positive and negative energies.  It grounds spiritual energies onto the planet, and it is believed by some people that Malachite will be one of the most important healing stones of this millennium.   It is a very important protection stone because it absorbs negative energies and pollutants easily, picking up those energies from the body and atmosphere.  Therefore, it is extremely important to cleanse this stone after it’s use.  The preferred cleansing method for this stone is to place it on a quartz cluster in the sun.  Do not use salt as this will damage the surface.  Malachite has the ability to absorb plutonium pollution, and guards against radiation of all kinds and should be placed in the home of anyone who lives near a nuclear or natural radiation source.

This stone may be used to clear and activate the chakras and attune to spiritual guidance.  Placing this stone on the third eye activates visualization and psychic guidance.  Placing this stone on the heart brings balance and harmony and opens the heart to unconditional love.

Malachite is a stone of transformation and life is lived more intensely under the influence of this stone, which encourages risk-taking and change.  It shows what is blocking your spiritual growth and draws out deep feelings and psychosomatic causes, breaks unwanted ties and outworn patterns, and teach responsibility for thoughts, actions, and feelings.

When placed on the solar plexus, this stone aids deep emotional healing by releasing negative experiences and old traumas, and bringing suppressed feelings to the surface.  Archangel Raphael, whose name means “He who heals” is the angel associated with this stone.
